Your anniversary is a special time in a couple’s life. Whether you go all out and plan a trip, or just do a nice dinner- it’s a wonderful day to remember your wedding and fun to look back on that day with fond memories. Ideally any couple would want to go out and have a kid-free evening, but that’s not always in the cards. A minimal budget, lack of babysitters or even just one sick kid can ruin your plans- but that doesn’t have to mean you be stuck in just watching tv! These 10 ideas for fun ways to celebrate your anniversary at home require very little time, energy or funds to make your anniversary night a special one- no matter what!

Clik here to view.I know the “lack of a babysitter” issue has plagued many an anniversary in this house. Living so far from family, we often are left to be more creative when it comes to finding a special way to celebrate our anniversary. To help anyone in our same boat, I’ve come up 10 fun and simple ways to celebrate your anniversary at home after the kids are ion bed! These are really great for any night that you are feeling mom and dad need some “mom and dad ONLY time” too.
1. Classic Movie Night
This is the most common “at home date idea” but always a good one. Pick any movie you wish and cuddle up on the couch together but don’t forget all of your movie theater favorites. Don’t forget the popcorn, boxed candy, and low lighting.
2. Wine and Cheese Night
If you’ve ever read my blog before, you KNOW this one is my favorite! Pick up a few different bottles of wine, some artisan cheeses, and set up your own wine tasting. Get a variety of wines from different places, cover up the labels on the bottles to create a blind tasting and try each, discussing the wine’s appearance, aroma, taste, and finish. Pour each other small sips so you can enjoy a few different wines. Don’t forget the crackers and fancy cheeses to clear your palate in between sips!

It’s beautiful, fun and funky and functional too. This beautiful piece is handmade from North American maple and features a teak oil finish. When it’s not smartly displaying your feast of brie, gouda and crackers, this fancy design makes an artful addition to your kitchen sideboard or bar tabletop- and quite a conversation piece too!

3. Spa Night
This is a great one too. Indulge yourselves in a night of relaxation by using candles or scented oils to create a spa-like environment as you take turns giving massages, pedicures, or facials to each other. Try your hand at home make at home scrubs, creams or treatments, or stock up on some from your favorite store instead. No matter what you use, you both will feel so relaxed at the end of your wonderful spa night in.
4. Game Night
Who doesn’t love game night? Grab some of your favorite two-person games and have fun sinking each other’s battleships, spending fake money, and coming up with creative words. One of your favorites is just the classic game of Scrabble- it’s always bound to be a fun time!
5. Video Game night
Seriously! Tuck the kids into bed,be sure they are asleep and turn on their favorite games and see what all of the fuss is about! Play some classic games like Mario, or try your hand at building something together in Minecraft. No matter what you play, you’ll have fun- and maybe even surprise your kids the next day with your “new found” gaming skills.
6. Have a theme night
Choose a theme and center everything you do around it. For example, if you choose an Italian theme, you could eat spaghetti and gelato, then watch a movie like The Italian Job or Life is Beautiful. Some other fun theme ideas: Mexican, Asian, Christmas, or your favorite movies from when you were a kid. This takes the classic movie night to the next level of FUN.
7. Have a romantic candle light dinner
It doesn’t matter if you are eating hot dogs and macaroni and cheese . . . anything eaten by candlelight is romantic. Make any meal and sit together like you are out at your favorite restaurant- just don’t forget the wine!
